If a man wants to leave you, wave goodbye and lock the doors. You've got better things to do than chase a lost cause.
~Bromance Book Club, Lyssa Kay Adams~
A good old romance novel 😌 This definitely qualified as one of the best feel-good books I've read and I'm so sad I don't have a physical copy yet. Also, this is my first e-book post, and I hope it'll not be my last. (setting up an e-book book-photo is more difficult somehow.)
The story was adorable, and it was cheesy, but the cheesiness made the story even more beautiful! It was the bloody perfect amount of cheese, after all! ❤️ And this book had a phrase which definitely makes my Top Ten Best Hilarious Bookphrases list.
➡️"Book boner."⬅️
Anyway, the story starts when Gavin Scott, a star baseball comes to know that his wife had always faked the Big-O. Distraught and destroyed when his wife demands for a divorce, his friends recommend him to join their book club, which he does reluctantly. Gavin's wife, Leah, had just have it with being the baseball star's trophy wife. She's become everything she once hated, and it eats away at her. She's determined to divorce Gavin and start her life anew, and live the way she always told she would live.
Throw in to the mixture terribly good comedy, another regency-era story within this story, angst and, incredible ooh-la-la scenes and you've got one amazing rom-com book!
The best part about this book was it didn't only talk about the way females are looked down upon in the society but also about toxic masculinity. For example, how males avoid Romance Novels or Pumpkin Spice Latte just because they're "made" for women. An adorable book and, yet a book which sends a deeper social message. Perfect. *chef's kiss*
If you love Historical Romances, cheesy love stories and the concept of "Love is always enough," this book is for you! Dork rating of this book is 9️⃣/🔟.
